I wrote these paragraphs ten years ago and now in 2008 I like what music has done for me. This web site covers more than music, but I am indebeted to music for many of the hapinesses in my life. Having made things all my life it follows that I would make music with my Homegrown instruments.

One of my nicer Yucca flutes.

A reed Quena of Peruvian style.

A bamboo Quena and Traditional American Indian flute done in bamboo.

Above are some samples of my flutes. All are fairly simple to build yet there are mysteries in getting the most out of them.I have learned by sharing information and at this point have learned 5 styles of flutes and come up with variations on these styles. I think I enjoy the sharing as much as the music.

Making music has been fun since I remember. I always got a little self-conscious when others showed their mastery of instruments that I couldn't play. I could feel the music but never put in the time to develop the talent to play. Here I hope to encourage you to make the best music you can and it will surprise you what will happen. Soon you will be a little happier. You will whistle to sounds inside you. You will want to share what is inside of you. You may not be the master, if like me you put off the development of skills that take many years to perfect. You can still make a pleasing and comforting music that you and others will enjoy.
